Innovia Foundation Announces Challenge Grant for Harrington Town Square :

Innovia Foundation has awarded a $30,000 challenge grant to the city of Harrington, WA, for a new town square. The Foundation will match every dollar raised by the community up to $30,000, with the end of December as the deadline to raise the necessary funds.

Over the past few years, Harrington has experienced the opening of new businesses, increasing levels of visitors and renovation of historic buildings. To promote continued growth and prosperity, the city developed plans for a town square in the downtown district, hoping to advance the vision of Harrington as a thriving community that attracts visitors passing through on I-23. The square will contain benches, a garden and a gazebo, providing space for the public to relax and share meals. The square will also house concerts during the evenings and farmers’ markets during the summer.

Updates on the progress toward reaching the monetary goal will be posted on the City of Harrington Facebook page. Aside from financial donations, the city also welcomes contributors to volunteer their time or in-kind services, such as items to be placed in the square.

“The town square project is a perfect example of Innovia Foundation’s dedication to vitalizing rural communities,” said Shelly O'Quinn, CEO of Innovia Foundation. “By matching every dollar donated, we hope to demonstrate how collaboration between the Foundation and passionate philanthropists can transform our local towns.”

Those wishing to support the project have two donation options:
